Lesson 1 - Cells Functions
choloroplast - an organelle that makes food from sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide.
cytoplasm - the gel-like material that surrounds the internal parts of the cell
diffusion - process that spreads substances through a gas or liquid from higher to lower concentration
nucleus- a part of a cell that directs all cell activities and carries information for cell reproduction
a structure that has a specific task within the cell
osmosis - a type of diffusion that allows water to pass but not the solutes in the water
Lesson 2 - Cells Continued
circulatory system - organ system that carries oxygen to the body and removed carbon dioxide and other wastes.
hormone - The chemical message that travels throught eh blood and carries special information for certain cells
Musculoskeletal system - organ system that supports all parts of your body and allows you to move different parts of your body
nervous system - the organ system - made up of the brain and other nevers - that controls movement and other organ systems
organ - two or more types of tissue that work together to perform a function
tissue - group of cells with a common structure and function.
Lesson 3 - Disease vs. Cells
immune system - an organ system that fights disease and foreign agents
infectious disease - a disease caused by organisms or viruses
noninfectious disease - a disease caused by malfunction of an organ system
